Privacy policy

The short version: this site runs entirely in your browser. There is no student account, no cookie, no analytics and no tracking — and the study progress you build on the flashcard page never leaves your device.

1. Who we are

Languages with Youness is an independent online language-teaching site run by Youness El Houari (EL HOUARI YOUNESS), offering courses in Chinese, German, French, English and Spanish. For anything in this policy you can write to elhouari710@gmail.com.

2. What is saved on your own device

The flashcard page keeps your work in your browser's local storage, on the device you are using. That is the only place it exists — it is not sent to us or to anyone else:

• which words you marked as known, and which you starred;
• your quiz score, streak, best streak and how many questions you answered;
• your settings: light or dark theme, the selected HSK level, and which languages appear on the back of the card;
• if you use the hidden admin area: the words you added, edited or deleted, and a hashed admin password (never the password itself).

This information stays there until you clear it: use ↺ Reset progress on the flashcard page, delete your browser's site data, or uninstall the browser. Nothing is synchronised between devices, and we cannot read it or recover it for you.

3. What we do not collect

This site does not ask you to register, and it does not collect personal data. In particular there are no accounts, no names, e-mail addresses or payment details, no cookies for tracking or advertising, no analytics or third-party tracking scripts, and no recording of your voice or your lessons on these pages. The flashcards work with no connection at all.

4. Hosting

The pages are plain files. When they are published on the internet, the company that hosts them may keep standard technical logs (such as IP address, browser type and time of access) as part of delivering the site to you. Those logs are controlled by the hosting provider and its own privacy policy, not by us. If you open the files directly from a folder on your computer, nothing is transmitted anywhere at all.

5. Messages you send us

If you write to the e-mail address above, your message and e-mail address are used only to answer you and to organise lessons. They are not sold, shared or added to a mailing list.

6. Children

The flashcards require no personal information, so they can be used by younger learners safely. Lessons and any enrolment for a child are arranged with a parent or guardian.

7. Your control over your data

Because everything is stored locally, you are in control of it completely:

• Clear your study progress — the ↺ Reset progress button on the flashcard page.
• Back up or move your word list — Export JSON in the admin panel downloads a file you keep yourself, and Import JSON puts it back.
• Delete everything — clear the site data for this page in your browser settings.

8. Changes to this policy

If this site ever gains a feature that needs personal data — for example an online booking form, a newsletter or a payment page — this policy will be updated before that feature goes live, and the date at the top will change.

9. Contact

Questions about privacy, or a request concerning your data: elhouari710@gmail.com.
